Jeff Bennion specializes in personal injury and mass torts. He has participated in approximately 30 jury trials, securing outstanding outcomes for his clients. From 2011 through 2013, Jeff represented victims of the 2007 wildfires and helped several clients receive six and seven figure settlements. He has managed many large e-discovery projects in complex litigation and mass torts cases. His technical expertise and dedication to his clients won him the San Diego Attorney Journal Rising Star award in December 2013, the San Diego Daily Transcript Top Young Attorney award in 2012, and the San Diego Business Journal Best of the Bar in 2015. In 2014, Jeff was a top 25 semi-finalist for the San Diego Daily Transcript Top Attorney award in two categories – personal injury and corporate litigation.
Jeff is an adjunct professor at UCSD extension, where he teaches Business Law, and at Cuyamaca College, where he lectures on evidence, electronic discovery, and civil litigation. In addition, Jeff frequently lectures on ethics, trial presentation techniques, and electronic discovery. In 2014, Jeff spoke at one of the largest legal conferences in the United States, LegalTech New York, where he spoke on a panel about emerging legal technology. In 2013, Jeff put on a training program for the attorneys and paralegals San Diego City Attorney’s Office on trial presentation skills. In 2014, Jeff gave the opening keynote address and presented four lectures at the statewide California Alliance of Paralegal Association annual meeting. Jeff has also presented MCLE lectures for the Federal Bar Association and the Foothills Bar Association. Jeff has published articles for the State Bar of California, Continuing Education of the Bar, and the San Diego County Bar Association.
In 2014, Jeff was appointed to the Executive Committee for the State Bar of California Law Practice Management and Technology section, where he serves on the education subcommittee and the newsletter subcommittee to provide guidance to California attorneys on how to run their practices more efficiently using technology.
In his spare time, Jeff enjoys volunteering in his community. He was a volunteer coach for the San Diego County High School Mock Trial Team. In 2011, he received the San Diego County Freemason of the year award for his community service. He currently serves on the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego Education Committee, Membership Committee, and the Community Outreach Committee.
Jeff is also one of the columnists for the legal news website Above the Law, where he has a weekly column on legal technology.
In 2009, Jeff passed the Defense Department Language Battery Assessment for the Russian language at the level of a native speaker with a college education.
